One Week with the Sttoke Cup from Slow Pour Supply

REVIEW

Slow Pour Supply was kind enough to send me one of their Sttoke Cups last week. I gotta say that I've had my eye on one for awhile now, so it was perfect timing that it came when it did. I've been using it every day since it arrived, and I'm extremely happy with it. My favorite feature is the Greblon Ceramic coating. It doesn't stain, and most importantly it doesn't hold on to flavors from your previous beverages. At any given point I usually have somewhere between 3 and 10 different coffees that I'm testing and drinking. Whether it's as an espresso or as a pour over I am constantly drinking coffee, and I either have one in my hand, I'm brewing one, or I have one in my hand while brewing another one. (yes I know I have a problem) I hate how lesser vessels will retain some of the oils from a previous brew, and throw off the taste and smell of the brew I'm currently drinking. This has not been a problem for the Sttoke cup at all.

I am someone who typically hates using lids when I drink coffee. I like to be able to stick my nose down into the cup with each sip and breath in all the nuanced aromas. Even with most travel cups I end up taking the lid off and forgetting it somewhere and then eventually losing it. I was happy to see that the lid on the Sttoke cup actually has a larger opening than most travel cups. Obviously it still prevents you from sticking your nose fully down into the cup, but it's not so small that I was constantly wanting to rip it off and throw it across the room like a frisbee.

I get distracted or pulled away from my coffee all the time, only to come back later to find that my coffee has cooled without me, and I missed getting to taste all the flavor changes during the cool down process. This really bums me out. The Sttoke claims to keep your beverage hot for 3 hours. I can say with certainty that this is true. In fact it almost keeps it too hot for too long. However, I found a little trick that seemed to work well for me. Anytime I needed my coffee to cool a litter faster than a FULL 3 HOURS, all I had to do was open the lid for a little while to vent off some heat. Worked like a charm! All in all I've been very please with the Sttoke cup, and I plan to continue to use it on a daily basis.

PS - Even though 8oz is larger than what I would typically use to hold espresso, I was please to see that the Sttoke cup did fit under my Breville Dual Boiler, so I could pull shots directly into it. Every now and then I like to drink a Red Eye, so this was another win!
